CTIA Wireless 2009

Not exactly sure what CTIA stands for but it is the International Association for the Wireless Telecommunications Industry, Dedicated to Expanding the Wireless Frontier.

Seems they are having a convention in Las Vegas this week and maybe, just maybe, we will here about a smartphone (and Bauer you know what special smartphone I’m talking about) and who gets it.

Bauer says T-Mobile and then allot of expletive deletes after that, I’m hoping to hear that Verizon will pony up for the rights to it.

Hey, maybe we won’t hear much about anything and its just another "Let’s Go Get Vegas’d" convention.

Windows Run Commands

Here is a cheat sheet for Windows Run Commands. Bonus sheet!

Lenovo IdeaPad S10

I buy a Lenovo once year. Last year it was a work laptop, Thinkpad T60 and the year before it was the main production laptop, a .

So this year, I thought I would try something a little different, a . Here’s the specs:

s10_6

Intel ATOM Processor N270 Single Core ( 1.60GHz 533MHz 512KB ), Genuine Windows XP Home Edition, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, 1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz memory, 10.2 " WSVGA AntiGlare TFT with integrated camera 1024×600, Industry Standard Touchpad, 160GB 5400 hard drive, 6 Cell Lithium-Ion battery and Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless.

I bought it for a couple reasons: It did get good reviews, albeit no one was thrilled with the 3 cell battery, and so Lenovo packed this one with a 6 cell battery.  It has Windows XP, which I will probably keep for a little while, since I do support that operating system yet never seem to have an XP system booted up. (once Windows 7 RC comes out, then I may see how the baby lenovo rolls with that).

Another reason to pick up one of these is the price, seriously! For $400!? If I am not happy with it, I am sure one of my nieces would be thrilled with it. And the final reason I bought it, it’s a Lenovo.

I should have it next week, and I will snap some pics and give you all an update.

Conficker Worm

Next Wednesday — April Fools’ Day — millions of infected PCs, called bots, will begin reporting for further instructions, presumably to begin spreading spam, stealing data or carrying out online scams. And there appears to be little the good guys can do to cut off such communications.

How to diagnose and defeat the dangerous Conficker worm:

Want to quickly find out if your PC might be one of the millions infected by Conficker? Try clicking to Microsoft.com. Next try Symantec.com. Now try McAfee.com.

If you can get to these sites, you’re cool. But if your browser will not let you access any of these websites, then you very likely are infected with Conficker.

Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs

Regardless of your definition of success, there are, oddly enough, a great number of common characteristics that are shared by successful businesspeople. You can place a check beside each characteristic that you feel that you possess. This way, you can see how you stack up. Even if you don’t have all of these characteristics, don’t fret. Most can be learned with practice and by developing a winning attitude.

Cricket USB Broadband Modem A600

Cricket’s no-contract, no-commitment $40-per-month EV-DO service is the best deal in cellular broadband you can find. "Find" being the operative word since coverage is limited or not at all in certain areas.

EV-DO does not cover New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or anywhere in New England or Florida, however. You can find full coverage maps at www.mycricket.com.

If you are using Vista or Windows 7 and need a Geek-o-licous freeware CD/DVD-Writer program, go get CDBurnerXP.
You can use the CDBurnerXP to write CD-R, CD-RW DVD+R/RW DVD-R/RW discs, and burn your data, audio, ISO’s disc, or make copies of discs.
I  have been using it for all my burning needs since NERO or Roxio costs coinage and I am all about the freeware.
