Windows 7 Default Services and Suggested Services Startup Mode

Microsoft has created services for many functions that are available for Windows 7. Just because the service is there does not mean we want it, need, it, or should have it even installed on a computer.

Our job is to make sure computers perform better and more secure, which is why we can, and should, disable services our users don’t need.

I found Offline files, Tablet PC Input Services running automatically on this box, which I don’t need. Definitely disabled Encrypting File System… “The fewer services running means the fewer ports open, which means the fewer viruses and worms, will function on the computer.”
