Windows Journal

Did you know that Windows 7 comes with a Journal option? I thought that was only in Outlook – the Journal feature that nobody ever used. (well, most of us never used it)

Nope, there’s actually a “Journal” in Windows 7 specifically so you can use your tablet pen to take handwritten notes on your Tablet PC. (I don’t have a tablet PC, but may one day…)

When you open Journal, it automatically opens a blank note. You can open additional blank notes, or you can create new notes from templates.

  1. Open Windows Journal by tapping the Start button Picture of the Start button, typing Journal in the search box, and then tapping Windows Journal in the list of results.
  2. Tap the File menu, and then tap New Note or New Note from Template.
  3. If you choose to use a template, in the Open dialog box, select the template that you want to use, and then tap Open.

After you’ve mastered the basics of working with Journal, you can change the lines and backgrounds, as well as the pen and highlighter colors and styles. Enjoy!
